STATUS OF FERAL ROCK PIGEONS IN A METROPOLITAN

  Feral pigeons are the most commonly encountered birds found globally. They are the descendants of Blue Rock Pigeon Columba livia. Most distribution of the rock pigeon was when it was first brought into captivity around 5,000-10,000 years ago introduced in most countries by the traders or colonialists. Earlier, the escaped pigeons flew to forage in the surrounding agricultural areas and used cities primarily for nesting. The original habitats of rock pigeons are cliffs and rocks coast.
